You Shouldn’t Be Allowed

Performed on CD by: Jacqueline Dankworth

Each waking moment of each day,
I’m hypnotised In such a way,
By everything you do and say.
You shouldn’t be allowed.

Each breath you take bewitches me.
Your being lights up all I see.
I bear my soul to worship thee.
You shouldn’t be allowed.
When god created heaven and earth,
He knew he wasn’t through.
Until the final masterpiece,
When he created you.

You’ve taught me things I’d not have known.
I’m half a person on my own.
My heart Is yours, and yours alone,
To know you makes me proud.
I’ve learnt how my past signifies,
The present’s where the future lies,
And that lies deep within your eyes.
You shouldn’t be allowed.

(break)

You’ve taught me things I’d not have known.
I’m half a person on my own.
My heart Is yours, and yours alone,
Of that I am avowed.
My heart no longer needs a key,
With you I’m where I want to be.
By loving me, you’ve set me free.
You shouldn’t be allowed.
