I Never Dreamed I’d Ever Dance Again

Performed on CD by: Paulette Ivory

I once believed that love was meant for anyone but me.
I’ve spent so many hours on my own.
Without someone beside me, I have found the going rough,
But none the less I’ve carried on alone

I used to think that happiness was something of the past.
I’d had my chance but lost it way back when.
And ‘till the moment when you led me gently to the floor,
I never dreamed I’d ever dance again.

I never dreamed I’d ever dance with anybody else again.
I never dreamed I’d long to hear the music soar.
I never dreamed I’d ever dance with anybody else again,
But now I’m dreaming as I’m dancing round the floor.

The times I’ve sat and stared at lonely shadows on the wall.
A tortured soul with nothing else to see.
Who’d have believed I’d meet someone, prepared to take a chance,
With every dance reserved for only me.

Now I awake each morning and rejoice In all I see.
No longer frightened as I was back when.
I never thought I’d find ‘forever’ In somebody’s arms.
But then I thought I’d never dance again.

I never dreamed I’d ever dance with anybody else again.
I never dreamed I’d long to hear the music soar.
I never dreamed I’d ever dance with anybody else again,
But now I’m dreaming as I’m dancing round the floor.

I never dreamed I’d ever dance with anybody else again.
I never dreamed I’d long to hear the music soar.
I never dreamed I’d ever dance with anybody else again,
But now I’m dreaming as I’m dancing round the floor.
Say, I’m dreaming as I’m dancing round the floor.
